Who'z the Winner?

Hey do you know about LIANA?

No, what does it stands for??

Well, *hello* this is a Car and launched in competition with Honda’s Civic and Toyota’s Corolla by Suzuki Pakistan.

Acha…really…that’s nice!!

How you come to know?

That’s strange, haven’t you seen the advertisements in newspapers and billboards?? And well LIANA is the acronym of ‘Life In A New Age’.

Oh, that’s cool. But let me tell you something really interesting. I have seen today an awesome ad of Toyota announcing the launch of their new car ALTIS.

Oh yes, that’s a marvellous launch and well what a great ad…they have related the car with music. Thumbs-up!

Hmmm…. I don’t know what on earth happened in Suzuki’s mind to come up with such a mega-mega-low profile advertisement when they afford to create roar in the market…. I don’t know what response they got from the market?? But, will find out soon.

Ahem. Do let me know. OK, bye!

Bye-Take Care!

Something not really relevant but may be it is. I have been quite frustrated at the fact, there haven't been an attempt to archive advertising industry (I think we can safely assume it is one) of Pakistan. I am not sure who to blame - web designers who're not even trained and knowledgeable about third generation web sites let alone KMS, CMS type apps or the creatives who have least expertise and more importantly lack of willingness to learn few tricks or tips to upload and share their work with others over the web...
Personally, I am not a tv man, nor even newspaper/mag man except Wired, Fortune and other Computer Science related foreign mags of course. So, I can't really comment on how affective these ad stunts have been. But from poor typography, bad choice (or no choice) of cultural sensitive design on the billboards and such hoardings scattered around this city, there's great need to intitiate the dialogue between all sort of people within creative industry.
I can name many indifferent souls like mine who would rather remain aloof of local industry work but more importantly they were never heard. No one listened to them when they wanted to scream out at the sultry saucy new mobilink hoardings (200Rs free airtime) and such....
I greatly agree with you on CityFM89 though. I really wonder if they are pitching for such a tagline or business model. There are a lot of angrezi RJs elsewhere on different FM channels and though CityFM89's RJs may be affluent and have better editorial guidelines than others, it still is serving selected few targeted audience in few areas. Not many know or may be want to know how Pearl Jam paid tribute to Neil Young many times over with his "Keep on Rocking in Free Wold" , Pink Floyd pioneered lights-synchronised with music and Led Zepplin was actually more loved and idolized than Michael jackson or whatever....
